
What happens inside as you slow down and pause
This is session # 3 of 5 of Focusing: The Gentle Power of Deep Listening.
In this session, we are going to put even more attention to your inner experience. It’s not just about doing something (for instance, slowing down) but paying even more attention to what happens inside as you do it.
As you watch, pay attention to any subtle bodily sensations that arise when slowing down or pausing. If nothing obvious happens, that is also information.

Practice
- With a partner: Take 15 minutes each to slowly speak about a topic of interest and listen to each other. As you speak, allow pauses and notice what arises inside you.
- Alone: Choose a topic and slowly speak it out loud or in your mind. Pause often and gently notice what comes up in your body — sensations, shifts, images, or emotions.
